Waterview Tunnel

Brief: The Waterview Tunnel, a Road of National Significance and a key piece of the Western Ring Route, connects Manukau, the City, West Auckland, and the North Shore. The 2.4km tunnel has many complex diverse requirements for air conditioning and ancillary ventilation.
Heatwave:

The Waterview Tunnel had several areas that required air conditioning and/or ventilation including -two ventilation buildings, one located at each end of the tunnel containing a range of electrical and electronic equipment rooms;  cross tunnel passages connecting the two parallel tunnel bores - one north bound and one south bound – with two electrical equipment rooms each passage; a tunnel Maintenance Depot, located near to the tunnel, also required air conditioning and ventilation. Additionally, the maintenance support shaft running the length of the tunnel required ventilation.

Heatwave were engaged to provide all Process cooling, air-conditioning and ventilation, to the electrical rooms, electronic equipment rooms, data centres, occupied areas, cross tunnel passages and maintenance shafts. All stainless-steel ducting was fabricated in Heatwave’s fabrication workshop in Glendene.
